Canva help guide

Build your club brand kit

Set up the correct club logo, Rotary colours, fonts and approved assets in Canva so your club can create consistent communications with confidence.

A simple brand kit gives every club volunteer the same reliable starting point. It reduces guesswork, protects Rotary’s identity and makes it easier to hand communications responsibilities from one person to the next.

Begin with the official club signature

Create or download your club logo through the Rotary Brand Center. Do not type your club name beside a Rotary wheel, rebuild the logo yourself, recolour it, stretch it or use a generic Rotary logo when an official club signature should be used.

Reusable designs for the communications you create most.

Before you begin

Choose the setup your Canva account supports

Canva’s menus and brand features vary by plan, team role and administrator settings. Both routes below create the same practical result.

Route A

You have Brand Kit access

From the Canva home screen, open Brand or Brand Hub, create a kit and name it Rotary Club of [Club Name].

Use the kit’s dedicated areas for logos, colour palettes, fonts, photographs, graphics and templates.

Route B

You do not have Brand Kit access

Create a shared folder called Club Brand Kit and a design called START HERE – Club Brand Board.

Place the approved logos, colour codes, font names and usage notes on the brand board, then store reusable designs in the same folder.

Whichever route you use: keep the kit in a club-controlled team or shared space, give access to named volunteers and ensure at least two current club leaders can administer it.
1
Rotary Brand Center

Create and download your official club logo

Sign in to the Rotary Brand Center with your My Rotary account. Use its logo tools to create the official signature for your club and download the versions provided for digital and print use.

  • Use your club’s full, correct name.

  • Download a full-colour version for light backgrounds.

  • Download an approved reversed or one-colour version if the Brand Center provides one.

  • Keep the original downloaded files unchanged in a clearly labelled folder.

2
Logos

Add the approved logo files to Canva

Upload the downloaded logo files to the ordinary logo or asset area of your Canva brand kit or shared folder. Give each file a name that tells volunteers exactly when to use it.

Suggested file names
Club Signature – Full Colour – Light Background
Club Signature – Approved Reverse – Dark Background
Club Signature – Print Original – Do Not Edit
Do not use Canva’s AI features to recreate, transform or animate a Rotary logo. Uploading an approved logo for ordinary design use does not give permission to submit it to logo generators, Magic Media or other generative tools.
3
Colours

Enter Rotary’s core colours

Create a colour palette called Rotary Core. Enter the hexadecimal codes exactly as shown.

Rotary Royal Blue
#17458F

Rotary Gold
#F7A81B

These two colours are the safest starting point for club communications. Add secondary colours only from Rotary’s current official palette—do not sample colours from an old flyer or online image.

4
Typography

Set your club’s Canva fonts

Rotary lists both licensed and free typefaces. For a club kit that volunteers can use easily, select the approved free options available in Canva.

Primary font
Open Sans

Use for headlines, navigation labels, calls to action and clear digital communications.

Secondary font
Georgia

Use selectively for body copy, secondary headlines or captions when a serif typeface suits the design.

Approved alternative: Arial may be used when Open Sans is unavailable. Frutiger and Sentinel require licences; do not upload or distribute licensed font files unless your club has the appropriate rights.

5
Photography and graphics

Add approved club assets

A useful brand kit contains more than a logo. Add a small, carefully chosen collection of assets that club volunteers may genuinely reuse.

Club photographs

Authentic, high-quality images with the necessary consent and credit information.

Campaign assets

Current graphics downloaded directly from the Rotary Brand Center.

Partner logos

Approved files supplied by the partner and used according to the agreement.

Do not fill the kit with every photograph the club has ever taken. Choose a small set of strong, current images and keep event-specific materials in separate project folders.
6
Reusable designs

Create five starter templates

Begin with the communications your club creates repeatedly. Keep each template simple and include short instructions inside the file.

  1. Event or fundraiser: date, time, location and one clear action.

  2. Club impact story: strong photograph, short result and partner credit.

  3. Speaker or programme: speaker name, topic and meeting details.

  4. Membership invitation: welcoming message and easy next step.

  5. Club presentation: title, content, photograph and closing slides.

Protect the originals: lock fixed brand elements where Canva permits, label editable fields clearly and share templates in a way that encourages volunteers to make a copy instead of editing the master.
Keep it organised

Use a folder structure everyone can understand

00 – START HERE – Club Brand Board
01 – Logos – Do Not Edit
02 – Colours and Fonts
03 – Approved Club Photography
04 – Reusable Templates
05 – Current Campaigns
99 – Archive

Archive outdated campaigns and old logo files so they are not accidentally reused, but retain them if the club needs a historical record.
