- The Awards Scheme is a progressive criteria-based system where clubs first work for a “Bronze” Award before progressing to a “Silver” Award and finally a “Gold” Award
- To encourage innovation in club projects, there are no specific projects in which a Club must participate for any level of award
- Sustainability, member engagement, and networking are key components of the system
Applications for an Award are forwarded to the District Environment Sustainability Chair who reviews the submission with members of the District Environment Sustainability Committee (DESC). The final decision to approve the award is made by the District Governor. Qualifying Clubs will receive their award at The District Conference.
While the requirements for the Bronze Award are relatively straightforward, they become progressively tougher for Silver and Gold Awards. It starts with the appointment of a Club Environment officer who will (ex officio) be a member of the District 7040 Environment committee and the catalyst for forming and leading an environment committee or task team in your club. Get your members to sign up for The Carbon Footprint Pledge. Devote some time to the environment and voila you are in the running for bronze. Application forms are below.
