Across District 7040, Rotarians are taking action to build more inclusive, welcoming communities.
Rotary District 7040 Stands Proud at Ottawa Pride
Rotary District 7040 proudly joined Ottawa Pride events, reflecting Rotary’s values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and our shared goal of building communities and clubs where everyone feels they belong.

Rotary Supports Bruce House Through Pride Run
The weekend began with the National Capital Pride Run and Walk at Riverain Park, supporting Bruce House Ottawa, an organisation that provides housing, care, and compassion for people living with HIV.
The Rotary team, Rotary Runs for Pride, came together for the second year to make a meaningful impact, raising more than $2,000 for Bruce House and finishing as the third-highest fundraising team of the event.
Participants included Rotarians, friends, and family members, all wearing Rotary Pride T-shirts and representing clubs from across District 7040.
“Every dollar raised helps restore dignity and hope. Rotary’s presence at the Pride Run reminds our community that service above self extends to everyone.”
Building Belonging at Ottawa Pride
Members gathered in front of Ottawa City Hall to take part in the Ottawa Pride Parade, a vibrant and family-friendly celebration of love and unity.
With banners, flags, bubbles, and bright colours, Rotarians from clubs across the district came together, creating joyful connections and demonstrating Rotary’s commitment to belonging and inclusion.
Although the parade did not go ahead as planned, the day remained a powerful opportunity for fellowship, conversation, and community connection.
Leading by Example
Special recognition goes to Julie Cugalj of the Rotary Club of Ottawa South, Chair of the District DEI Committee, whose leadership and dedication brought Rotary’s participation at Pride to life.
Thanks also to District Governor Graeme Fraser and Past District Governor Teresa Whitmore for their continued support and advocacy in ensuring Rotary remains a place where everyone is welcome and valued.

Rotarians from across District 7040 gathering during Ottawa Pride
At Rotary, we believe that creating a culture of belonging is essential to who we are. Our strength comes from the connections we build, the respect we show, and the opportunities we create so that everyone can thrive.
Rotarians across District 7040 remain committed to fostering inclusion not only at Pride, but every day, in every club and every community.
Looking Ahead
Plans are already underway for Ottawa Pride 2026, where District 7040 hopes to once again participate and continue building a culture of belonging across the district.
Everyone is welcome in Rotary.
