Westelcom, a provider of advanced telecommunications solutions, has announced that it will host the 2nd Annual Kickin’ IT for a Cause kickball tournament to support the ARC Jefferson-St. Lawrence Capital Campaign, with plans to fund a speech therapy room at the Gaffney Drive campus.
The Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence Capital Campaign marks the first time the organization has taken on a capital project. The project will include necessary upgrades to the Gaffney Drive campus which was built over a half century ago in 1968. The project will modernize the building and further accommodate the larger client population and staff currently being served. Technology upgrades are also planned to improve vital therapy services.
Westelcom’s will donate the proceeds from this year’s Kickin It For A Cause Kickball Tournament to provide space and technology necessary to perform state of the art speech therapy to all ages. Paul Barton, Westelcom President commented, “we hope that players of all ages will enter to help raise funding for this – this is last year’s quote…very important illness hitting so many of our soldiers, military and civilian families across the country.  We want this to be a rewarding and fun event for the community.”  There is a $200 minimum team donation to enter and Barton added “this is to encourage fundraising, family fun, team branding and costumes.”  There will be awards for the top three teams in each division, as well as, the team that has the highest charitable contribution.  To add another element of excitement Westelcom will be recognizing the team with the best use of costumes.

The tournament, now open for registration, will be held on Saturday September 14th at the Cerow Recreation Park in Clayton.  Registration begins at 9am with kick-offs to follow at 10am.  The tournament is open to the public and will be split into a competitive division, as well as, a family fun recreational division.
