DG Fay Campbell

Growing up in Jamaica, Fay was fascinated by hairstyles and fashion. What started out as a pastime passion led to a successful national and international professional career in Hair Styling.  After graduating from Cosmetology School, she then taught for three years at the school.

Fay immigrated to Canada and was gainfully employed at the prestigious La Coupe hair Salon in Montreal, followed by a career at Vidal Sassoon and other well-known salons. Subsequently, with the knowledge and experience gained from working in several high-end salons in Canada and internationally, Fay ventured off to become a successful entrepreneur and business owner of two high-end Hair Salons and Spa in Toronto and Ottawa.

As a leader in the Cosmetology industry, later in her career, Fay wanted to pass on her expertise, which led her to pursue her second passion - teaching. Following Teacher’s College at Queen’s University, Fay taught at Algonquin College, Ottawa Catholic and Public-School Boards.

Seeking meaningful ways to contribute to and serve her local and global community, Fay joined the Bytown Rotary Club of Ottawa in 2004. Fay served as the Rotary Club Ottawa Bytown president from 2008 to 2010 and as the Area Governor for Ottawa Central from 2011-2017.  Currently, Fay is a member of the Rotary Club of Orleans.

She continues to serve her district in several capacities. For example, she served as the Chair of the Rotary DisCon Silent Auction from 2011 to 2017, as Club International Chair from 2010-2014 and again in 2016-2019, and as District Friendship Exchange Chair. She has:
  • Spearheaded fundraising to secure incubators for the neo-natal clinic in Jamaica
  • Hosted a dinner that raised $1500 for school in the Mathere Slums Nairobi Kenya
  • National Day of Immunization, India, 2015
  • Raised $4000 for Hawksbay Campus School in Karachi, Pakistan, including educational supports including tools and learning aids.
  • Started three Interact clubs: Gloucester High in Ottawa, Gisele-Lalonde, and St. Peter in Orleans
  • Friendship Tour to India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan 2016
  • Raised funds to build a Football field for a Boys Home in Columbia 2019
Fay was the chair of the Rotary District Friendship exchange in 2018. She successfully organized an inbound and outbound Friendship Exchange to District 3040, Bhopal India, and to District 2220 Russia, to name a few of her accomplishments.

Fay is the recipient of five (5) Paul Harris Fellowship and the Monette-Webster Rotarian Award.

Fay is a Board Member of the Campbell Oudeh McNamee Music Education Scholarship for the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. For the past several years, Fay has, and continues to host a successful fundraising garden party to raise funds to support marginalized youth who are part of the Jamaican Youth Orchestra.   She also volunteers with the Ottawa Little Theatre.

Fay loves traveling, gardening, and dancing. She is the proud mother of one son, Major Ward Lentz, an instructor at the Infantry School in Canadian Forces Base Gagetown.
