Dear fellow Rotarians and friends, greetings to all

We are already one month into this Rotary year, and I look forward to working and sharing fun with all of you throughout my journey as Governor and beyond. My official visits have started, and I am hopeful that the majority of these will be in person as nothing can replace these kinds of personal exchanges. How fortunate we were to have our RI President for 2022-2023, Jennifer Jones, start the new Rotary year with us in D-7040, Ottawa. I really felt privileged being present and this will be a lifetime memory to cherish. Her compassion, availability and personal touch were heartwarming and demonstrative of the spirit that we espouse for Rotarians. I am also seizing this opportunity to thank all those who were able to come and share these moments of joy and camaraderie with us in Ottawa. For those who were unable to participate, we encourage you to jump onto the bandwagon in sharing the fellowship and friendship.
Like all District Governors who have preceded me, I would like to see a vibrant district and our membership increasing as well. My district theme is Inclusion: Just Imagine what Inclusion can bring to our organisation. Not only will this help sustain our strength in the District, but it will also provide the opportunity to bring more people from diverse cultural, academic and employment backgrounds into Rotary. I have a particular objective of finding new ways of empowering the women who are already Rotarians or considering becoming Rotarians. I trust that you will join me in our efforts, and we will be united in reaching our goals.
As you are aware, President Jennifer Jones’ theme for this Rotary year is “Imagine Rotary.”  So, let’s challenge ourselves to dream big and imagine how we can attract new members in Rotary, engage with one another, keep our existing members and work together in the District to support our local communities and our international causes. August being the Membership month, let us work our best to at least have a plus in membership of our respective clubs by the end of the month.
Let’s join forces to make this a year to remember in D-7040!

My life in an iron lung

We had a great turnout this week to hear Paul Alexander’s remarkable story about his 70 years of life in an iron lung from the age of six years old. It was really inspiring to hear Paul share his journey with the 50 people online.

Several people have requested a link to the recording we made and you can take the opportunity to listen to Paul. Please find the recording of Paul Alexander's talk at this link:  recording of Paul's Talk.  Visit this link and comment if you wish. Please complete the form on the page so we know you have visited us.
