Dear Fellow Rotarians,
Would you like to grow more as a Rotarian? Would you like to strengthen your club? Would you like to discover more about Rotary? Please consider attending Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) on March 24th at the Ramada Inn, Cornwall; Parts 1 & 2 in English and Part 1 in French. I am a graduate of all 3 levels offered in District 7040. It was interactive education on our most relevant topics; including membership, service, foundation, leadership and more. I had a lot of fun too; valuable for any Rotarian aspiring to do more for club and district. Check the district website and register today.  (Refer also to and read the January news; especially the quote of the month.)
District Scholarship Chair PDG Katie Burke notes that the deadline for scholarship applications is April 15th and the interviews will take place on April 28th. Please be reminded that candidates need be District 7040 permanent home residents.
PDG Katie Burke continues to seek and organize Rotarians in the district for help on the translation team, along with the need for a translation team coordinator. Can you provide some Rotary stewardship to help with this very important endeavor? In the pursuit to provide translations to French for all that we want to share, we do need some bilinguals to help us. We are a District of more than one language and want to respect this diversity with our French- speaking fellow Rotarians and friends. Please contact Katie at Thank you to all those who have been translating; and to AG Michele Herblin and Lise Lafrance who have taken on the task of translating my monthly message and district council notes. Merci beaucoup!
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Academy) is taking place June 8th -10th at the St. Lawrence College in Kingston. Please contact Chair Paul Elsley (Kingston) and Mike Moore (Kingston-Frontenac) with any questions; it would be nice to see 2 attendees from each club for this leadership building experience of our future leaders. Registration is $390 US or $500 CAN and applications are due by April 30th.
There is still time to earn the prestigious Rotary Citation. Presidents please Input your goals at Rotary Club Central and be sure to update your service projects and volunteer hours; these are very important.  Please contact your area governor and / or me for any assistance.
District Friendship Exchange Chair Fay Campbell is seeking 12 Rotarians to host a person or activity for a friendship exchange with District 3040 in Bhopal, India. Contact Fay as soon as possible.
Are you one of the 30,000 who have registered for the Rotary International Convention in Toronto? Go to to register; the next deadline is March 30th at $410 US. This is the chance of a lifetime to attend a Rotary International Convention! It is exhilarating to network with Rotarians from all over the world!
“People Coming Together” is the theme of the 2018 Montreal Zone Conference with President – elect Barry Rassin, RI Director Jeff Cadorette and our own PDG Nabil Oudeh who is vice chairing this institute. A very cool experience is promised. Register today at
Meanwhile, check out upcoming events at our District 7040 website. Our district continues to work hard to provide you many opportunities. In addition the Learning Development Team has been reaching out to many in the district to bring you a special Rotary weekend April 20-22 to include: Grants Management Training, President Elect Training (PETS), the annual District Foundation Dinner, and District Training Assembly (DTA). This is a most worthwhile opportunity for new and veteran Rotarians.
The Rotary International Theme for 2018-2019 is “Be the Inspiration”, but we don’t need to wait until July to show our Rotary spirit of charitable service as we continue to go forward in Making a Difference through Rotary!
Kind regards,
Sue Bellor
