 | Dear Fellow Rotarians and friends, April has been declared *Environment Month* by Rotary International. When we look around to see what has been accomplished to save Mother Earth up to now by the different organisations and governmental bodies, we must admit that not much has been put in place and we are not thriving in the right direction. Nonetheless, it is essential for us to do our part, however big or small our actions may seem to be, we remain driven in our efforts to continue the mission for a better environmental world. |
April is a special month for us all because it marks the 155th anniversary of our founder’s birth, Paul Harris. Let us pull together in strength and underline the vision of this gentleman who simply cared for humankind and wanted to take action. With his dream coming true and determination to help those who needed it, Paul succeeded in launching the greatest non-profit organization in the world. As Rotarians, it is our pride to be part of this organization and we can celebrate this by donating whatever we can to our Rotary Foundation, including our time.
As I pursue with much pleasure visiting clubs around the district in person, I just cannot describe the sharing of joy and laughter through fellowship and friendship at every stop. The 14th of March also marked the last District Training Assembly under the chairmanship of PP Gayle Oudeh to whom I am ever grateful for all the help and support I received from her and the time we enjoyed together. Additionally, the Rotaract Outreach Retreat took place in March for the first time in person since the pandemic at the James Purcell Community Centre situated in Ottawa. It was well attended from Rotaractors from all corners of our District and I was privileged to be a participant in that event. PETS or PERLS also happened in Cornwall on March 31st and April 1st at the Best Western Parkway Inn under the leadership of DGE Pardeep. I have no doubt the people attending had a delightful time.
We continue to hear and to read about all the great achievements happening through partnership and in a collaborative manner around the world thanks to our Rotary Foundation involvement. It’s incredible to follow the evolution and journey of funds which translate to actual results we can see; the glimmer of hope in the eyes of those who receive that much needed help. I have and will always encourage our fellow Rotarians and everyone through my visits to keep a particular mindset of abundance and generosity, a special thought in giving so we can continue to touch more lives positively.
To our Club Presidents, please make sure that your goals are entered in the Rotary Club Central so that you can assess your progress by the end of your term. Area Governors, kindly follow-up and help them accordingly. We stand united in helping hands and we are better for it.
My last call to all of you to come and participate in our District Conference which is taking place in Montreal at the Westin Montreal Hotel from the 5th to the 7th of May 2023. It will truly be an enlightening opportunity for you to listen to great speakers while also being able to make new friends and build lasting connections. I am personally very much looking forward to sharing with you all soon. In the meantime, I wish all of you and your loved ones good health and success in your undertakings.

Lorsque nous regardons autour de nous, voir ce qui a été accompli jusqu'à présent par les différentes organisations et corps gouvernementaux pour sauver la Terre, Mère Nature, nous devons admettre que peu de solutions ont été mises en place et que nous ne prospérons pas dans la bonne direction. Néanmoins, il est essentiel pour chacun d'entre nous de faire sa part, aussi grandes ou petites que puissent paraître nos actions, nous soyons motivés dans nos efforts pour poursuivre la mission d'un monde environnementalement meilleur.
Avril est un mois spécial pour nous tous, car il marque le 155e anniversaire de la naissance de notre fondateur, Paul Harris. Rassemblons-nous en force et soulignons la vision de cet homme qui se souciait simplement de l'humanité et voulait passer à l'action. Avec son rêve devenu réalité et sa détermination à aider ceux dans le besoin, Paul a réussi à mettre sur pied la plus grande organisation à but non lucratif au monde. En tant que Rotariens, nous sommes sans doute fiers de faire partie de cette organisation et nous pouvons célébrer cela en contribuant avec des dons à notre Fondation Rotary, y compris notre temps.
Alors que je poursuis avec beaucoup de plaisir mes visites aux clubs du district en personne, je ne peux décrire le partage de la joie et des rires à travers la camaraderie et l'amitié, saisis à chaque occasion. Le 14 mars a également marqué la dernière assemblée de Formation de district sous la présidence de PP Gayle Oudeh à qui je suis toujours reconnaissant pour toute l'aide et le soutien que j'ai reçus d'elle, et le temps que nous avons passé ensemble. De plus, la retraite « Rotaract Outreach » a eu lieu en mars pour la première fois en personne depuis la pandémie au Centre communautaire James Purcell situé à Ottawa. Les Rotaractiens ont participé en grand nombre de tous les coins de notre district et j'ai eu le privilège d'être un participant à cet événement aussi. PETS or PEARLS a également eu lieu à Cornwall les 31 mars et 1er avril au Best Western Parkway Inn sous la direction du DGE Pardeep. Je suis convaincu que les personnes présentes ont passé un agréable moment.
Nous continuons d'entendre et de lire à propos des grandes réalisations qui se produisent dans le monde entier grâce à des partenariats et des collaborations faits par l’implication de la Fondation Rotary. C'est incroyable de suivre l'évolution et le parcours des fonds qui se traduisent par des résultats réels que nous pouvons voir ; la lueur d'espoir dans les yeux de ceux qui reçoivent l'aide dont ils ont tant besoin. J'ai toujours encouragé nos collègues Rotariens et tout le monde, et continuerai à le faire à travers mes visites : garder un état d'esprit d'abondance et de générosité, une pensée spéciale aux dons possibles, afin que nous puissions davantage avoir un impact positif dans plus de vies.
À nos présidents de club, assurez-vous que vos objectifs sont entrés dans le Rotary Club Central afin que vous puissiez évaluer vos progrès d'ici la fin de votre mandat. Gouverneurs de zone, veuillez faire un suivi et les aider en conséquence. Avec nos mains tendues, l’union fait la force et cela nous rend meilleurs.
Mon dernier appel à vous tous pour participer à notre conférence de district qui se déroule à Montréal à l'hôtel Le Westin Montréal du 5 au 7 mai 2023. Ce sera vraiment une occasion unique pour vous d'écouter de grands conférenciers, vous faire de nouveaux amis et de créer des liens durables. Je suis personnellement très impatient de partager de beaux moments avec vous très bientôt. En attendant, je vous souhaite à tous et à vos proches bonne santé et succès dans vos projets.
