It's August and I hope all of you have enjoyed your summer so far. As somebody who grew up in California, I look very forward did this time of year.  Let me update you on how things are going so far.

I have started visiting Clubs, in particular fundraisers like Perth's Rib Fest and Nepean-Kanata's 50th anniversary. Additionally, I started my official Club visits earlier this month in the Tri-Lakes area of New York followed by the clubs in the Kingston area. My goal is still to get as many DG visits completed prior to the District Conference on Friday the 1st and Saturday the 2nd of November.  I plan to complete any remaining Club visits by the end of December.

Speaking of the Conference, I'd like to give you an update of what is planned for our annual two-day District Conference starting on Friday, 1 November, with the Council of Governors' meeting for a boat ride among the scenic 1000 Islands at the Harbor Hotel in Clayton, New York.  It is a breathtaking facility with a phenomenal view of the St. Lawrence Seaway.

The Conference will begin at 3:30pm with an opening session to include the 2018-19 Award ceremony. Friday evening, we will also have a turkey dinner sponsored by the Clayton Rotary Club at the local American Legion which is very close to the hotel.  This will be a PolioPlus fundraiser available not only for Rotarians, but also community members to bring our Eradication message to many and show our impact on the world while enjoying ourselves!  The dinner will be followed by live music. Our goal is to have fun and enjoy fellowship in a casual atmosphere - hope you can come early and join us. Additionally, after dinner, we will have a hospitality suite operating back at the hotel for those who want to stop by, have a snack, a beverage and casual conversation.

On Saturday, the conference will include Youth Exchange, Rotaractors, a recent Global Scholar and guests including PDG Doug Vincent, a Rotary UN Ambassador, speaking on the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations which RI President Mark Maloney is celebrating all year.  We are proud to announce that RI President Mark has assigned Past RI Vice-President Dean Rohrs and her husband to be his representatives. In addition to other speakers, there will be breakout sessions and the opportunity to participate in a Community Service project working with local Interactors. Prior to the Governor's Banquet, we will host a reception for Paul Harris Society members and those who are Major Donors and above.  This Conference is also going to be unique in that we are going to offer childcare during the Banquet in a hotel suite.

Our Super Early Bird Special is still available, as of this writing, but spaces are limited...register now to include hotel rooms for both Friday and Saturday evening in your Conference registration!
