Rotarians and Rotaractors in many cities across Canada are being visited by Jennifer Jones, the Rotary International President for 2022-2023 and the first female in Rotary’s 117 year existence. The “Imagine Canada Tour” began on June 17th in Dawson City, Yukon and will wind up on July 11th in Victoria, British Columbia.  Please check the District Facebook page for more pictures also.
In our District we were treated to a visit by Jennifer, her husband Nick Krayacich, on June 29, 30 and July 1.  They were accompanied by Vice President Valerie Wafer along with her husband Mark Wafer and the current President’s Aide, Bryn Styles and his wife Randi.  Nabil and Gayle Oudeh were the Ottawa Hub co-chairs for the part of the Canadian Tour.
On June 29 Marie-France Lalonde, Liberal MP for Orleans and a Rotarian herself hosted a reception at Parliament Hill in recognition of the Government of Canada’s support for PolioPlus.
On the evening of July 30 there was a dinner and dance celebrating the District Changeover and the Rotary Foundation. We had two Canadian Senators visiting. Bernadette Clement is from Cornwall, and Amina Gerba is a member of the Rotary Club of Old Montreal.
On July 1stmany Rotarians and Rotaractors gathered at the Miracle Baseball Field in Navan, Ontario for a baseball challenge which many said was the highlight of the visit and something that should become an annual event.  Many thanks to Paul Elsley and Heather Taylor for organizing this.

The three-day tour also saw a visit to Rotary Home and to the Parkdale Food Centre.  There were many hands involved in making visit a great success and to name a few, particular mention should be made of Anna Van Adrichem Rochon and Dorothy Berthelet who took many photographs, incoming District Governor Michel Wong Kee Song and his family, outgoing District Governor Fay Campbell and District Governor Nominee Teresa Whitmore.  Unfortunately, due to illness, District Governor Elect Pardeep Ahluwalia and his wife Simmy Ahluwalia were unable to attend.  Bonnie Black was a wonderful MC for the dinner – an evening greatly enjoyed by all with many seeking to have their photographs taken with Jenifer Jones.
